spring is the thing
hello hello
Popping in to share some pictures from the last couple weeks and dust off this newsletter. I’ve been inspired by some friends sharing works and words in different formats (non-grid / social media specific) and the different pacing and breadth that allows for, hoping to keep up with some form of sharing over here with some semblance of regularity while also keeping it casual.
Springtime always feels like the actual start of the year for me, I’ve been loving the boost of energy it brings, and also relishing moments of rest which have been feeling sparse at times. The last couple months have been busy busy for me, mostly with all good things but also in a rather relentless chugging along, going-through-the-motions kind of way. I have some new projects (in prints & silver) I’ve been slowly chipping away at which I’ll hopefully share soon :-) otherwise just been up to a mix of tattooing & jewelry work for the most part.
On that note, I am booking for May in brooklyn~ I have a decent amount of availability open as of right now, if you’re in the area and are interested you can book here. Open to anything, but have especially been loving adding some color into my work recently, and would love to continue to play with that!
I will be down in baltimore and booking tattoos down there sometime in June, dates tbd- if you’re interested you can shoot me an email and I’ll send you my booking form once those days are confirmed! otherwise keep an eye out on ig for booking updates.
The following pics are bits of things that have felt a little more playful and borne in moments of studio flow and non-tattoo related work. Studio scraps from projects i’ve been slowly working on or just getting started on, also just some things that filled my cup.
happy spring 🌱🌎🕊
Jumble of bits n pieces for a mobile I’ve been working on for the past year with the intention of hanging it over my tattoo table for clients to look up at when they’re getting tattooed. this piece has been my “pickle project” which I occasionally will work on in between other things, which mostly has been untouched for many months. it’s now *finally* about done, I just have to decide how I want to treat the surface and hang it up. I love the way the pieces look all together, all lines and swirls, here they’re just sitting in my toolbox with other scraps.
Recent bench mess - pearls and pebbles, sketches and scraps of wax. pearly charms and rings in progress~ pictured in waxworking stage before casting
checkered lilies at the cloisters garden <3 i couldn’t get over these
new favorite salad which I truly cannot stop making (coincidentally matching colors of the checkered lilies) pinks n greens are my favorite color combo to eat together i think. My friend Sophie made this salad when I was down in Richmond last month.
recipe notes if you’re curious:
radicchio (chopped bite sized), greens of choice, + parsley if you want
cucumber & green apple, sliced thin & bite sized
candied walnuts, diced
blue cheese, crumbled
dressing: olive oil, ACV, dijon, maple syrup, little lemon juice, s&p, add some blue cheese crumbles, helps make the dressing a little creamy and emulsify a bit
I’ve also added pomegranate seeds, cooked beets, or some avocado when I’ve had them around, optional but delicious. this salad is very riffable :-)
stained glass painted window at the cloisters
teeny flowers spotted on a hike on the AT in connecticut recently, also found ramps on this hike which i made into a yummy sauce with tahini & lime 😋
winging shapes in wax - not yet sure what I’ll make them into, really been enjoying working with hard wax recently and playing with carving, feels quite meditative and satisfying to see the transformation from block of wax → rough shape → finished result. it’s a different process of refinement than the freeform quality and squish of soft wax forms, and a nice way to use a slightly different part of my brain.
that’s all for now ~ thanks for being here :-)
